Which pre-1920 player(s) is the most "unknown?"
I was reading the Dutch Revelle thread the other day (his T206 card looks really nice) and I was intrigued by the great detective work by some forum members to uncover tidbits of information about a player such was Revelle, who was all but unknown outside of the most hardcore of the hardcore baseball historians.
If we stretch it back to the Old Judge set, can we find other Dutch Revelle's, where there's little known information about their lives, let alone their careers? Perhaps we can add some information and expand their wikipedia pages by linking some original source articles... I just got a subscription the other day to newspapers.com and I feel like digging up some gems. I found some really cool articles on Hoss Rodbourn and John Clarkson from local newspapers. I debated listing this in the autograph section because I was wondering how many of the Old Judge players have known signature examples, but I quickly realized that applies to a large portion of the OJ players. |
