What you see here is an entirely intact October 16th 1919 World Series New York Times Mid-Week Pictorial, released just one week after the conclusion of the series. It depicts a massive crowd in front of the New York Times Building in Times Square -- as they are watching the game unfold by way of early play-by-play reproduction, in a photo taken by the Brown Brothers -- a organization essential to deadball era photography. This moment in which the paper was released is just after one of the biggest national events in a war-torn global political climate; just before the game of baseball comes crashing down into confusion and conflict via the revelation of the Black Sox scandal to the public eye.
These pictorials are incredibly scarce and rare to come by, even in poor condition. This one is absolutely excellent for its age; entirely intact with all binding and pages included in approaching mint condition. The cover itself is lightly worn. I have only ever seen a couple of these; most are in a condition approximating damaged beyond repair.
I'm attaching a link here to the full Internet Archive document by which you can view the real contents of this pictorial inside and out. It contains some fascinating period imagery and documentation.
Asking $1,000 OBO shipped for this item. It is incredibly delicate, so it will have to be packed carefully, which I will arrange!
Any questions, feel free to reach out. Cheers!
