The topic of scarce cards gets brought up many times a year if not a month with many different opinions. In most cases it's a card from a limited production set to start with or an odd variation, salesman sample etc...
To me a scarce card is something like the 33 Goudey Lajoie with over 150,000 graded between PSA and SGC and only 144 Lajoie's which with the crossovers might be closer to 100 than the 144. The 144 Lajoie's is only 0.093% of the graded 1933 Goudey's. So for me a truly scarce card is a rare find no pun intended. I have been following a particular card for many years that there are only 4 of out of over 50,000 or 0.007% of the total graded by PSA and SGC. It is the same as the other 50,000+ front and back and it's not a variation. |
