Did I miss the announcement of this? A 1914 CJ Jackson SGC 10…..?
And if true…if ever auctioned off, would it set the record for the most expensive baseball card ever sold with how the market is today? |

I didn't even know it was possible for stained cards to be 9s/10s. Were these factory finds? Or is this one of the sets that the distribution was actually taken into consideration?

At a National in Cleveland (I think 2004) a 1914 Cracker Jack set was said to have walked into the show that apparently was never in Cracker Jack boxes and was taken from the factory somehow or whatever the story was and Bill Mastro bought or brokered the set.
The cards may have been graded on site. I heard at the time the set had a home and was sold privately. All of this is second hand info but I heard this back in the day. Last edited by ncinin; 07-20-2025 at 02:57 PM. |

Personally, I would have thought this would have made headline SGC news….why wouldn’t they want to show this unbelievable card off?

It was a complete set not just the Jackson. The Cobb and Alexander, as well as other Hall-of-Famers was a 9. According to SGC's pop report there are 5 10's and 55 9's. All probably came from this set.

Here is a Net54 thread about it. Randy Stuckmeyer bought it for $800,000.

Isn't the story that there were presentation sets gifted to a handful of executives back in 1914?
