Default The Villages (FL) Card Show - Saturday, September 6th

If you live in the Central Florida area, there is a very worthwhile vintage sports card show this weekend at The Villages, a 55+ senior community: Savannah Recreation Center, 1545 Buena Vista Blvd., The Villages, FL. I will be set up there with lots of vintage baseball, oddball, HOF rookie cards, autographs, and pre-war photos. 80+ tables and free admission so come out and join us.

Do you have to be at least 55 to get into the show?

Getting lucky in The Villages may be a disappointment.

Not if you brought an ample supply of latex products with you.

As usual, show today was excellent with a nice turnout and collectors were looking to spend money. Nothing crazy but great for a show that only draws a couple/few hundred people.

I’ve been to The Villages show many times, sorry I couldn’t make it today. It’s a 2.5 hour drive for me driving down from the Jacksonville area and I’ve always been glad I made the trip. As I understand it, the show is put on three times a year and hosted by The Villages Card Collecting club. There are a few retired MLB players who live there and sometimes they set up and autograph items. They have clubs for every interest you could imagine and golf courses everywhere. Geezer (like me) softball leagues, pickleball, I guess it’s called active retirement. I never considered moving down there though, everyone is old lol.

It is a sad day when you realize that you qualify to live there...and a worse one when it starts to sound good!

Was a doc about that place a few years ago called Some Type of Heaven. Worth a watch. Can prob find on Netflix. Some type of Heaven for some, and some type of Hell for others.

Personally speaking I have no interest in living anywhere with no young people and no children around.

To each his own, but this. I live for my kiddies, they are the joy in my life right now.
