Anything interesting to report? Pictures? High Prices / Low Prices? Crowded / not crowded? Percentage of vintage vs new product?

Today was very busy and steady. Prices are as strong as ever. ‘33 Goudey Ruth’s in particular are exploding (wish I picked one up 6-12 mos ago, but not my disciplined collecting focus). Saw fewer than 10 ‘52 Topps Mantles for sale. Premium prices around $37-46K for SGC 1’s, and some PSA 1’s for up to $75K. Trailing 6 and 12 months sales trending up and up. Never too late to get into this blue chip investment.
I heard yesterday was very busy, buyers in right away purchasing massive $ of high grade vintage for future resale in their marketplace. I saw Sammy Thunder there today and he did an interview with Legacy Cardz. Maybe he’ll post a great walkabout video? I spent about 30 mins total at Legacy, catching up and working on a deal. Chatted with many wonderful dealer and AH friends, a great part of shows! Last edited by brunswickreeves; 11-01-2025 at 07:03 PM. |

Got there right at 10 am today, and the parking lot was more full than I had ever seen it at that time. Some AHs missing though - no Heritage, no LOTG.

The few pictures I’ve seen, were way over market pricing for vintage. Par for the course.

Apparently they are still selling at these prices, and higher next week. Should end well

SGC is on life support and not allowed to travel to shows under the new leadership. This has been happening for close to a year now. |

If something is priced "over market" and sells, wasn't it ... priced at market?

Good show. Yeah prices are high right now but guys are getting it, I guess. As a mostly Red Sox collector it would probably benefit me to go to a show in a different region of the country. Some prices are still laughably high. The half price guy is an example. Everything at his table is half of sticker. So if you want that 1952 Bowman Gil Hodges in a SGC 3.5 it will only cost you half of that $400 sticker price (smh).
Nice place for post war set builders. Smaller stuff can be had in bulk and you do ok by avoiding shipping costs. I do wonder what happens before the doors open at shows like this. Dealers and insiders sweep the floor, I’m guessing, and anything priced too low gets snarfed up. Probably best to go early or late Sunday where I suspect more deals get made. But I had Halloween and family Friday and NFL Sunday. And so I was there Saturday and it was crowded by not insanely so. Hobby seems healthy. Interesting that you see a ton of older slabs at this show. Given that PSA is tougher then it used to be you’ve got a lot of dealers holding those old slabs with lower standards and holding out for market comps or higher on 8 digit flips that start with 0 or 1. Sometimes you can find nice cards for the grade in these old slabs but there’s a lot of faded merch that has likely sat in display cases show after show and year after year. This is very common with pre war stuff in particular. |

Overly ambitious prices aside, it's nice seeing so much deliciousness on display. At shows out here, there is maybe one thousandth of that amount of vintage to behold. It's all shiny, all the time.

Able to stop bye the show Sunday and as usual a great assortment of vintage cards and memorabilia from all 4 major sports. Touched base with my fellow 54’ers, great to see Steve Big John and Al for catching up and hobby talk. Fun time and looking forward to April show. Side note, Kendrick Perkins is a mountain WOW.

One non-sports dealer had a case of original baseball 1970s Laughlin art on display, including this stack of Baseball Firsts. Asked him about pricing in larger groups and he talked around the idea, always referring to one card at a time. Hard to tell why! Perhaps he was worried about mis-valuing something, since he described himself as "limited in baseball knowledge." I hope he stores them better once back at home. That art is fragile and bits of original paper were flaking off as the glue wore out and shoppers handled these cards.

Does anyone know the name of the dealer who had the 1917 M101 Felix Mendelsohn card of Ed Roush? It was in an SGC Holder (1.5). I would love to buy it if anyone knows the dealer? I saw a Pic of it under the Shows Instagram Account.
Thanks for your help! |

I had a great show setting up with my good friends John Liffmann, Ron Farr and Tim Erwin. It was great to see so many hobby friends and have hobby discussions with them. Thanks to Alan Elefson for always offering help and Hugh Murphy and Steve Birmingham for the great conversation. Also, it was very nice to meet Sammy Thunder and have him include my cases in his video.

I had a great time at the show. It was great to see Steve S, Murph, Steve B, Jeff W, Bigfish, Scott S, Ryan, Don, Howard, Aron, Bryan, and other board members! I was there all three days. I sold some items and consigned some other items.
I bought some really cool items including a Wagner store model glove, an envelope sent to Harry Wright, a few new/old stock store model bats of Gehrig, and a Jackson notebook. The notebook came from a fellow board member and was on the BST somewhat recently. Alan |
