My first SGC submissions...1 good, 1 not so good..
Finally sent my first submissions to SGC last week. Shipped and on the way back to me. Really excited to add these to my collection. Really bummed about the one though. Love the SGC turnaround time.

Those 71's are notorious for a little black Sharpie improvement, nice looking cards.

Nice Bert!
Since it is graded as "color added", can you see where it was added? Is it the upper left? |

In the old days it was easy to see the recoloring, because the marker-wielders always hit the gray sides of the cards with their Sharpies, too, so it stood out like a sore thumb. These days, not so much. At least the other Blyleven RC got a nice grade and looks sweet!!!
Guess this is apropos here... 243. Charcoal Merchant (also Blackpeddler) A person who deceptively darkens the corners and edges of 1971 Topps cards in order to pull a fast one and pass them off as high grade. See also: Sharpieshooter - one who is highly proficient at this deceitful activity. See also: Tragic Marker - the discovery that one of your key 1971 cards was recolored sometime in the past. See also: The Gray Sides Giveaway - when a recoloring job is so amateurish (or quickly done by a kid back in the day) that parts of the gray sides of the card are also blatantly mottled with black.
