Default Jersey Check Help? Research?

I was checking out the latest Grey Flannel auction ( in preview) and saw some great stuff. One item that stood out to me, was an early "Purdue" jersey. As a Purdue Alum, I have interest in this. I'm concern that this jersey isn't affiliated with Purdue University (aka Purdue Boilermakers) itself. Purdue University's school colors are old Gold and Black, not red and black as shown in the pictures. Jersey appears to be late 1900-1920's? Maybe?

I know they had some printing of the school colors a little more "orange-ish" vs yellow/gold sometimes. It is possible this jersey was more orange-ish and faded to red over time? However, I've been researching early years of Purdue Unversity's debris ( yearbook) and haven't match anything yet.

Any help would be appreciated if I'm missing something.

Hi Gary - the Jersey is c.1930. It doesn't look like it faded to red - red appears to be the original color. Did Purdue ever have an animal like the one on the sleeve as a mascot?

If the jersey is c.1930, then the colors yeah, not sure the colors are adding up with the time period.

Purdue has a griffin, kinda like a dragon in the school crest:

I don't believe so, they were more usage with "Purdue" or a "P" type thing. I was hoping this was an early type jersey because they may of used the griffin more back then. I could be wrong, but it's hard for me to see why the colors would be those colors in the 1930s.

Here is another look at it from when it was on another site in the past...

It's actually red and blue, I think. I wouldn't however dispute the 1920s claim, possible, but more late 1920s. It's a nice jersey.

Without a doubt it's a nice jersey still.I guess, I'm still trying to figure out if it's connected to Purdue University? Which I don't think it is at this moment, unless I'm missing something.
