There is a plaque on the house in Commerce, Oklahoma where Mickey Mantle grew up. There is also a billboard on the main hioghway through Commerce that says future home of Mickey Mantle Museum. It has been there for the past 10 years and last time I was through there ground had not been broken on it. Me and a friend stopped at a small card store on Main Street and asked about it. We were told that the town and the Mantle family had not been able to work things out, he thought that the family was making some demands that the town didn't want to meet. |
