Default John(Jack) Merson cards anyone?

Posted By: Brad

does anyone have any cards of Jack merson? he played for the Pirates and the Red Sox. He was my uncle and I would like to have some actual cards. He gave the family the remakes of his 1952 topps card #375 but i would like originals. Do any of you have this card or any others? I know he has at least 1 more but I can not figure out the brand or the year
Thanks

Brad,

I looked up his name at the Beckett site and came up with a list of cards he has appeared on.

1952 Topps #375 John Merson
1953 Red Sox Team Issue #20 John Merson
1982 Bowman 1952 Extension #263 John Merson
1983 Topps 1952 Reprint #375 John Merson

I don't have any but hope the info helps you a little and good luck in your quest for these cards.

Jeff

Brad,

I noticed on the back of his '52 card that he was just 16 when he was signed by the Senators, which seems remarkably young to be playing pro ball. I looked him up in the Baseball Encyclopedia and he's listed as being two years older. Either way, it looks like he was a solid .300 hitter in the minors. Too bad his only high-numbered Topps card just happens to be one of the toughest-to-find national issues in the post WWII era ...
