Default Need help identifying Warren CDV from Spalding Collection

The following CDV on the top left is part of the Spalding Collection at the NYPL. The subject is currently listed as "unidentified". I compared this person to other early 1870s Boston players and was wondering if it could be Sam Jackson, pictured on the top right.
The image at the bottom left is also part of the Spalding Collection and currently unidentified, but I think it has got to be Jackson by comparison. Assuming that is the case, the fact that Jackson shaved his sideburns lends further credence that the CDV could be Jackson.

Similarities:
Hair parted on same side and in same style
Similar amount of forehead showing…hairline is similar
Similar nose, eyes and earlobes
Chin of unidentified player is similar to the woodcut of Jackson.
Mustache size and shape are similar – unidentified player has a “space” in the middle of his moustache under his nose, like the woodcut image.

Differences:
Sideburns are longer in the Jackson photo on the right.
Hair is shorter and slicker in the Jackson photos
The curve in the middle part of the ears is a bit different,
but we're comparing a right ear and a left ear from different angles...
it could be due to asymmetrical facial features.

Thoughts?

I do not believe the person in the CDV (upper left) is the same person as in the other three - which I agree, are of Jackson. Specifically, the chin and nose seem quite a bit different to me. Just doesn't look like the same guy.

Paul,

I don't think that the cdv in question is Jackson, though the other two images certainly are. Here's another one below.

I do have a problem with the ear, but any case, the easiest difference to see in the cdv is the position of the nostril with repsect to nose tip. Jackson's are essentially underneath his nose, but your guy's nostril is somewhat more up the side of his nose and angles upwards towards his face.

I am 99.9 % sure this is Barnes.

How about these two. Birdsall and Barrows?

Barry-The photo on my previous post of Barrows was used on this Boston CdV from 1871 or was at least from the same photo shoot. Actually the Barrows, Birdsall, and Jackson images on this thread appear to have been used for the Pierce Boston CdV as well. Interestingly the Barnes CdV from this same group was not. All four are in the Spalding collection and were photographed by Black in Boston in 1871 or before.

Do other Black photos of individual Boston players exist, or are Barrows, Birdsall, Jackson, and Barnes the only ones known?

How does Barker from the 1870 Rockford Forest City team compare to the unknown player on the left? Looks similar to me but other opinions would be appreciated.

The photo on the left was taken by Warren Studios in Boston and is very similar in style to the 1872ish Warren Boston CdVs. Barker played one NA season and that was in 1871 with Rockford. It seems unlikely that this could be Barker.

Barker has a much more prominent chin and a chin cleft. This is also very evident in NYPL image 101025 - a Rockford Forest City team photo with players in uniform. To see that one really clearly you would have to order a hi-res print for $25.
