July 4, 1911
july 4 1911 scorecard.jpg
July 4th, exactly one hundred years ago, the Reds and Cubs struggled to a 2-2 tie at West Side Park. Game was called in 10th because both teams had to catch a train. Three Finger Brown pitched in relief for King Cole, the latter the ERA winner of 1911. Score of that game in scorebook. Sorry for poor quality. Last edited by celoknob; 07-03-2011 at 06:20 PM. |

Very neat piece. Isn't that a scorebook? What are some of the other games?

Yes, I had to clarify that it was a scorebook. I wish it was a whole season in the book but there are only a handful of games. However, it includes the great 1910-1911 Cubs against players like Mathewson and Wagner.

It's very difficult to find a whole season in one book. Most fans only go to a handful of games; you would need to find an official scorer's book to get every game. But you have a vintage year with some key HOFers. Thanks for showing it, on the eve of its centennial.
