Modern card appearances

Just updated my team histories pages to include 2024:

I don't collect modern and haven't for some years. But for this annual update effort I grab images of modern cards.

What is going on with cards as new as 2024 Topps - why are images looking grainy, dark, fuzzy, etc.

I've attached a sample here, but it is ubiquitous in recent Topps sets both base and others and there are many worse than this - why are they doing this?

Am I just a grumpy old man to say I prefer sharp color images?
