Default Chet Morgan

I picked up this card of Chet Morgan from Belgium awhile ago. It looks like an American baseball player, but I've never heard of Chet Morgan. Does anyone know anything about him?

Guessing that he was a member of the 1968 US Olympic team, which was a demonstration sport. Can't really find a roster, but it sounds like it was an exciting event - some reports I read said the Cuban team went into the stands to brawl late in one of the games...

Do a google search for "chet morgan coach baseball italy" and you'll find that he played with Hank Aaron in the minors and then wandered overseas and ended up coaching in Italy during the 60s.

That would make sense - probably a coach for an international team either in the '68 Olympics or other international tournaments in '68 or '69. Hard to believe any kid in Europe would have been excited about getting that card in a pack!

Thanks for all the great replies, you guys definitely found him. He is listed on baseball-reference.com as Chester Morgan. I wouldn't have guessed that was him since he only played in the minors in the early 1950s and that card was from the late 1960s. I agree that a kid wouldn't be looking for a baseball coach card out of a pack, that was an odd choice for a card but I like it.

The Chet Morgan Steve referenced is this Chet Morgan's father.

Chet was an unsung star of the '52 Eau Claire Bears that also featured Henry Aaron and Wes Covington. I got to meet Chet at a screening of "A Summer Up North" and we've been exchanging Christmas cards ever since!

Great card!!!

Jason
