FS: 1904 NY Giants Opening Day Invitation
Rare (only one I've ever seen), original 1904 Opening Day invitation, New York Giants vs. Philadelphia at the Polo Grounds, April 21st, 1904. Christy Mathewson pitched in a loss.
The invitation has a fold and opens like a card, which leads me to believe these were mailed out to invitees with a ticket (or voucher) inside. Condition is good for age. It has the original fold, plus another fold perhaps from being put in a pocket on game day. There are paper remnants on the reverse, possible scrapbook removal. Minor age toning, and a couple of stains. There is also a 1/4" tear at the fold on the right edge of the front of the invitation. Size is 5.5" x 7" closed.
