Default OFF TOPIC - Major League Foul Ball?

My mom was a baseball fan, something she inherited from my grandfather, who I have no memories of. Mom’s true joy was watching a game, whether on TV or, better yet, in person.

For years, she told us the story of getting a foul ball at a St.Louis Browns game while living in St. Louis during and right after WWII. She would tell us how the ball ended up in a seat very near hers, and she beat everyone else getting to it. But she could never find the ball, and as years passed, eventually accepted that she had lost it.

Moving a couple of weeks ago, I came across a Cardinals bat bag that gad been given away at a game sometime in the late 80s-early 90s. She had given the bag to my son, with my little league bat in it around that time, but he didn’t want it and told her to keep it. After she died in 2017, my dad found the bag and gave it to me. Imagine my surprise this weekend to discover the lost “foul ball” in the bottom of the bag.

My guess is what mom found is actually a batting practice ball, or a pre-game warm up ball that ended up in the seats. There are no markings of it being an official major league or American League ball. Only mom’s inscription from long ago (her handwriting never looked that good that I recall), with the date, location and team info.

Just asking those on the board who know more about this than me … no chance this is a major league game used ball, correct? No matter the answer, it will still be special to me, as it was to mom for 72 years.

Thanks.
