Default Baseball card road shows

This organization has been advertised like crazy in the mid Atlantic. Anyone dealt with them before? First time I have heard of them.

Yeah, that ad has been in the Baltimore Sun the past few days. I guess they’re aggressively targeting the mid Atlantic area knowing that the Chantilly show is no longer.

Advertising in a newspaper isnt really aggressive in 2025.

I live in Maryland and have never seen or heard of this company before this post.

I’ve never heard of them. However after spending 2 minutes on their website it looks like they’re only into buying collections, and not doing actual card shows. They’re likely targeting older people who have childhood collections who don’t know or want to go to shows/ebay to sell their collections.

"Free" appraisal? There are only two kinds of appraisals that are "free" - from those trying to sell you something and from those who want to buy something from you, e.g. this one. Neither type is to your benefit

Gary is a top top guy -- a longtime board member on here. He did me a real kindness in my early days of collecting 10 years ago or so, and sold me this Leaf Ruth after beating me to the punch on the BST, when he could have very well blown me off (thanks Gary!!). It was a PSA 5 prior to Review and bump.

Baseball Card Roadshows was going strong maybe 7-8 years back, with a presence at the National. Had lots of cash on display there to buy collections. They were aggressively advertising back then, and came to the Ohio area as well, I recall. Nice to see he's back at it.

Sort of a cool throwback to me. Late 70's early 80's there were a few dealers that traveled setting up at hotels. Had cards to sell? Come by room whatever between these hours on a couple days.

They bought some really nice stuff, which sort of annoyed the local dealers.

Thanks for the kind words. Wow, forgot how nice the Ruth was. Glad you still have it. Update: Newspapers are incredibly cheap to advertise now adays as no one reads them. I used to travel heavily as a fraud examiner/auditor and would put ads in the paper when I went to a city. At night, I'd buy some collections. It got pretty busy and I ended up building sets in addition to my father's collection as a kid for a project. It was a nice break from the work travel. During/after Covid, it was really difficult to find much as I think people stayed at home, pulled out their old stuff and sent it off to AH. We saw a huge price increase and inventory to the market at that time as we all know. Granted, there are still nice collections out there in garages/attics; but not like it used to be. I don't travel any longer and one of the guys I used to work with continues with the ads. For context: in the 2012-2020 years, it wasn't unusual to get 100 calls from an ad (lots of junk, but they were calls)..now, if there are 10 calls, it was a good ad. Ads cost about 20% of what they were in those days as well.

Given that their business model involves flipping to dealers, I'd be very much interested in their explanation of how they beat dealers' bids.
