for the seller to circumvent charging for credit cards. It's illegal to specifically assess a charge for using a credit card so they charge a 5% fee across the board, then discount the 5% back for all other forms than credit.

Your Right Tom,
Unfortunately very few people including dealers realize that it's illegal to pass credit card processing fees on to the customer. I still see Ad's in Scd each month that quote a 4- 5% surcharge for credit card purchases. I have contacted several of these dealers and not one of them thinks this law applies to them. Remember when gas stations used to have a cash price and a credit price? Gee I wonder why they don't anymore, because the law says they can't. later brian

I once bought a used VHS tape from a guy who took cash under ten dollars. I sent him a money order.

Isn't it illegal to send legal money (except for coins with a "neasting place") throuigh the mail?
