Cubs vs Red Sox W.S.? SI Vintage baseball game

Well, my Dis-Astros are finally gone, so I'm pulling for my #2 NL and AL teams: Cubs and Red Sox.

I still have my 1973 copy of the Sports Illustrated All-Time All Star game - this is an absolute classic and must have if you are a baseball game collector, but leaves out 19th century and stops at '73. Thoughts on all-time pre-war teams for Cubs and Red Sox franchises?

albie,youre putting chance ahead of anson on your team?

i would also put Jimmy Ryan ahead of either Cuyler or Stephenson. i would take Bill Dahlen over tinker any day

and where the heck is Larry Corcoran on your team! pre war doesnt mean after 1900

John - You are correct, I ignored anyone that played pre-1902. Given that I would take Anson over Chance but that would be the only change I would make.

Kevin's is close to mine. I would add:
Spalding to the Pitching staff
Van Haltren or Gore in the OF (Schulte wasn't that great for very long).
Maybe Ross Barnes at 2B.
Also I wonder if at least one of the Evers Tinker Chance trio should make the team ?
