what paper collectible would you most like to see graded next?

I realize that many folks will howl in derision over the idea of imprisoning more stuff in slabs, but I think it is a valid one: what types of things would you like to see the slabbers tackle next? We've already got oversized cards and cabinets, tickets, autographed cards and autographed cuts, and N booklets, so these are out as answers.

Personally, I'd like to see A-type album pages and wire photos. I think there would be a good market for this kind of stuff, esp. the wire photos.

Things I would not like to see are any publications with multiple pages where you are unable to read the content when the item is slabbed.

I'de like to see SGC do Old Judge cabinets. I asked and begged them but they don't think they could recover the $60,000 cost of the mold for the holder. What do you people think?

Well, at least we got one or two non-snarky responses.

Cabinets are mostly the same size, so I think they could make back the cost if it was not limited to OJ cabinets but included all cabinets. PSA certainly thought so; I saw graded T3s at Hollywood Park. I'd like to slab my T3(9) collection but don't particularly like the way PSA holders look. GAI soft-holders them; worthless IMHO. Forget the value issue for a moment; don't you think they would look sharp in the SGC holders?

I think offering the service would be part and parcel of smart marketing, especially since many collectors will send in other cards with their cabinets order. I'd probably even pay a premium for the service; after all, what would a nice frame cost me?

I'd like to see SGC have a holder for cabinet cards. PSA does T3's and I'd certainly like to see SGC slab them as I think they'd look far nicer. (Even if you had to pay 30 bucks for grading)

I like the idea of wire photos being graded as well.

Cards are fairly easy to identify and all of the major slabbers have still managed to screw it up, some on a regular basis. Identifying the authenticity, generation, etc., of photos is much more difficult and I doubt the slabbers could handle it, although I'm sure they'd try if they thought it could make more money for them. Also, it would add the incentive to trim the photos. I'm also against it for aesthetic reasons, but that's just personal preference.

So while I can't think of anything additional that needs to go into slabs, I can recommend removing the following: reprints, wax packs, hand-cut cards...JMO

And after giving it much serious thought.
I feel that it is only proper and fitting that we should slab all the slabbers and have them properly registered.

Let's just say that it's our high tech contribution to future collectors.
We never had the luxury of seeing the face's of the collectors that handled our vintage cards first.
By doing this, we are innovators in a sense.
The future collectors of our cards will actually see who the morticians were.

All rules of grading will apply.
No cross slabbing allowed.
Any trimming will disqualify the Slabbed One.

Where will it go from here? In 2104 will today's slabs mean a damn thing? Or will a 2004 SGC 84 holder be worth $$$ regardless of the card in it because they quit the business in 2020 and in 2104 those plastic cases are rare to be found still intact. In the big picture, how often should I get my cards regraded -- every 5, 10, 25 years? How long will it be before perfect counterfeits (card and slab) be availble?

Bring back the days when self authenticating, grading, and pricing were hobby skills.

Cards are entirely too fragile to actually be in the hands of individuals. Many board members have pointed out their inability to be trustworthy custodians of these historical objects. Not a moment too soon, there will be the sale of card options and direct purchase (and ownership) of cards which you will be permitted to visit for scheduled viewing.

These cards will be stored at depositories equipped to insure the minimization of the effects of our environment on them. But a replicard will be issued which is an exact duplicate of the one which you actually own. Of course, at some later date the grading standards will be modified to make sense.

Are there any archival experts who can determine the level of archival protection SCG, PSA, and others provide so that the cards do indeed survive to 2104?

I checked SGC's archival description http://www.sgccard.com/new/holder.html . They indicate moisture is kept out, but what about the quality of the plastic, acidity, and whatever else might matter?
