When's the last time someone has seen a T208 on ebay?
I know some of you fellas do own a couple or have owned a few in the past, (Jay, I think you have shown remorse about parting with a group that you had)but how rare are these bad boys?
I know they are significantly more rare than the E104s, but are they that much more rare than d359s? I mean, you never see d359s either, right?
Any opinions?
thanks.

Cards like the ones you mentioned just do not come up for sale on ebay except once in a very long while. The big auctioneers might have some, but the best place will be the National. I saw and/or picked up several really tough cards there and passed on a few I now wish I'd bought.

I don't know if BOTN is selling them or just posting them for someone else.

Yes, I am familiar with that lot...nice cards.
I believe botn is/was offering them on consignment for a collector who has a complete set already in the bag.

I bought one off ebay around 4-5 years ago. Only seen one, maybe two on there since. I don't pay a lot of attention to which major auctions have them, but don't recall seeing more than 6-7 of them in the last 5 or so years.

i PICKED UP A D359 OFF EBAY 1 1/2 YEARS AGO FOR A VERY FAIR PRICE but have not seen any t208's at all. I think the t208's are much more rare than d359's.

legendary dealer/collector don steinbach former partner of bill mastro had a complete set(among other rare sets and near sets). it was auctioned in the september 1997 mastro & steinbach auction shortly after his death.

Scott.
What the set auctioned as a set or broken?
Did it stay with one person?

What are they selling for? Someone mentioned seeing some at the National; does anyone remember prices? I would also wonder if anyone had ideas on just why they are so rare?

I have seen about 25x-30x more D359's than I have T208's. That's just me though and others may see, or have seen, something different. I don't think there were any for sale at the last several Nationals, at least that I saw. I had my personal type card on display so it could have been it that someone spoke about. regards

I definitely imagine that t208s are several times more rare than d359s, I just wanted to emphasize how little "we" see d359s to put the t208s in perspective.

Matthew: Past posts have mentioned a t208 selling for $12,000 if I'm not mistaken.

amongst the most of the rarest of all cards. I must have missed that particular R.E auction or it would have went for more or would have been mine. I have seen 5 offered since 1987 and did not see the full set auctioned either ....though I doubt that I would have been able to afford it.

I know of someone that does have one trimmed 1/8 inch at top ,otherwise vg x and wants very little, i do not own a trimmed card and have debated buying this for sometime now.

Leon ?????????????????????????????????????????/

I hope to have one someday....hmmmm......

There was an Ira Thomas on ebay about 5 months ago. The seller ended the auction early to relist it with a reserve but ended up selling it outright for $1500. I would say it was GVG or so but looked very presentable. That was the only one I had seen in about 3-4 years on ebay.

Bris Lord. At least the important back is presentable, the front isn't so lucky.

You guys are killing me. It's bad enough that I sold all 6 of t208s, but I had all the key cards and they were all crease free. Prolly would have graded out no worse than VG/Ex. I don't miss my t205 set one bit, but kick myself every day for letting the t208s go.

Let's make a deal....I won't talk about whatever you don't want me to and you won't tell us for the 3,000,000th time how you sold the T208's? Deal? regards

Deal, that means, I've got only 2,937,853 times left to mention it :p
I would have never missed them if I hadn't got back into the hobby. It's like heroin, you can't truely ever give it up. And you can also blame Lee, since he is the one responsible for my relapse.

I won this card on ebay from David Bryan in 2001 for $1500. While I now have have 1 T208 and 9 D359s, I couldn't find any of the eight I needed to complete the set of "World's Champion's 1910" fronts I need in four years of trying. I picked up the Mack, which turns out to be one of the toughest D359s, for $107.36 from Sportscards+ in 2000, in a PSA 3 (MK) no less. Most of the others cost me $200-250 each. Times have changed.

The ten different "World's Champion's 1910" fronts I own can be viewed at:
