Default What's up with this card?

I've never had any of my cards graded, but have seen plenty at shows and eBay. So why does this get only a 1 Poor for a grade? Guess I'm not familiar with SCD grading either.

Probably trimmed. I suspect that this company may grade trimmed cards and rather than note that they are authentic and trimmed, they assign a grade of poor.

Sadly, the trimmed theory makes sense, given they gave the card a 1 for edges and corners, when the edges and corners look pretty good to me.

Then there is always by SGC 1.5 Devlin. A really nice card that would look like a 5 if ebay was hosting the image, but tons of spider wrinkles that are not as hard to spot with a nice close image, like so:

For some reason i can't get the image up. But if this is the green port. than i saw it at the fort show and it has a slice on the bottom right going up about 1/2 inch. Like a razor slice.

I guess my equipment is no good. Its brand new but I didn't know or think to ask for a particularly good monitor. I can not see anything wrong with your card. It sure is a heck of an image tho.

Edited to add: that is, I can not see the wrinkles.

I looked at this at the show and believe me it looks like at least a 7. Until the seller pointed out the slice from the bottom up. It is below the "s" in st louis. Goes up about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. I asked why scd and was told he wanted to try them out. He also had some other graded HOF'S in the same holders which really didn't make sense to me unless they had the same problems.

this SCD Authentic isn't the same as the Sports Collectors Digest Authentic grading company that was around a few years back. SCD sold their name and logo (at least the grading portion of the co.), and were bought by god knows who. the new graders have no more hobby street cred than PRO

If it is the same card I bid on a while back it was in a SGC 10 or 20 holder with the mention of the slice. I believe at that time it went for a little over $50, I was the underbidder, thought it was a nice looking card for the grade. Do know why you would cross it over though.

i saw an OJ recently that looked like a 50-60 range by SGC but got a 1 poor, there was a scan of the back and it showed some damage, maybe thats the reason for the low grade.
pete-

my best pitch was the one that made it to the plate!
