When were numbers first used on baseball uniforms?
Posted By: Patrick McMenemy

I have always heard that the Yankees of the 20's (1927 Yanks) were the first major leaguers who wore numbers. The numbers they wore is where they hit in the order. Hence, Ruth was #3 and Gehrig was #4. |
