Post your choice for the prewar card of the year...this can be a card that changed hands in the last year or was new to the hobby since January 1, 2008. After a week of entries I'll post the top 5 vote getters. |

I nominate the T206 Murr'y Piedmont 350-460 that Turner Engle found earlier this year. I believe it was a significant find, not to mention the card is a one of a kind. |

This is the card i sold to Dave F. raw which was found in a box with other T227 cards in a barn at Terryville CT. He had it graded by SGC. |

I will agree with Jantz, I have been searching Murrays only with tougher backs for the variation for years. I never even bothered looking at a Piedmont. A truly significant find. Dan. |

Do collections count? Was the skydash find this year or last year? It changed hands this year, right? So the Thorpe from that find would make a decent nominee. |

I don't remember if the Thorpe sold this year or last December...the collection was found last year and sold in two separate auctions by Mastro...last December's and April/May 2008. Can't recall which one the Thorpe was in, but if it's this year then that's a fine nomination. |

I think the T206 Matty proof should be in the mix too. It is not a six figure card like most of these, but a superstar nonetheless. |

To me, this is an easy decision. The T206 Wagner is the most recognized card in the hobby and the most significant. With only a handful of truly nice examples in the hobby, the discover of an unknown beautiful example has to trump all other finds regardless of how significant. |

Here's my nomination. How many collectors have a career contemporary card picturing Pete Hill? Rube Foster? Pop Lloyd, maybe....... |

I was class of 1985 in Terryville CT, known as the strip search senior year. We got strip searched because they had a report some people were hiding alcohol to our senior class trip and they decided to search everyone. |

I'm older than you guys, but I was a Divisional Merchandise Manager for G. Fox back in 1985. I remember reading that story in the Hartford Courant. |
