RIP Dan Wheldon

Racing mourns the loss of another great champion. The catastrophic incident in Las Vegas last Sunday that resulted in the tragic death of Dan Wheldon raises multiple questions; (1) Why did Indycar not heed drivers warnings of too tight racing conditions and maintain a full field, (2) Did the $5 million incentive for Wheldon to begin at the back of the field contribute to the accident, and (3) With the death of Wheldon and the departure of Danica Patrick to NASCAR is this the end of Indy on small ovals?
