Default R.I.P Moose Skowron

5 time world champion and '61 Yankee Moose Skowron passed away last night. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Following the '58 season, my dad took me (9 years old) to a father-son event at our temple in my hometown (Norfolk). Moose Skowron was the guest speaker. He showed film clips of the '58 WS and gave away signed baseballs. As a Yankee fan, who had never seen a major leaguer in person, it was a wonderful experience that remains with me to this day.

That's a great story Mark. Here's something from back in '58.

Moose was a very nice man. I met him several times and was never disappointed. RIP Moose.

He signed this for me TTM last year to complete it. Great guy!

Moose must have done a lot of speaking over the years. In the early 80's he came and talked my little league end of season dinner. I was a fan from that moment on. I met him a few more times over the years. Here are two cards I had him sign in January of 2011.
He was a great guy and had a lot of great stories!! He will be missed.

Jim
