I suppose 2 months in a row where people wait until the month starts is too much to ask

Matt--

That's the recent EBay card I advised the Seller about and recommended he send it to SGC.

Glad to know who got it--CONGRATS!

A couple of Cubans for the type collection.

And not really a card, but how often can a get something pertaining to the famous Baltimore club for almost nothing? Sorry for crappy scans.

Well, after all is said and done, I broke somewhat even with my T210-1 lot, and was able to keep six beauties:

t210668.jpg

Viola: As Rhett said, the forgotten Cuban pioneer.
Mulldowney: Cool Columbia sweeter. Also interesting miscut/trim...... The front looks miscut/trim on bottum, BUT the back looks miscut/trim on top.
Fox: Long time Columbus Manager. Possibly why they were always called the Columbus Foxes ?????
Hille: My type of condition !!
Pope: Needed a Jax player (love those pin holes).
Weems: Classic pose and uniform.

Fun, fun, Scott

Thanks Guys! I think it has better eye appeal then the 2s and 2.5s that have sold in the past year or two as they all seemed to have some creasing to Honus.

The back story is that the guy is an auctioneer in PA and put the card away 20 years ago and forgot all about it until recently; he popped up on the eBay forums with a scan and Fred advised him to submit it to SGC. I know he was contacted by a few other folks and a few auction houses before he accepted my offer.

Default Amazing stuff, all around.

Great pickups, everyone - especially love the Wagner, Matt!

Marquard from Goodwin, Gibson (tougher pastel) from eBay

and a pesky "Anon 3" Recruit - many thanks for the trade, Rob!

Default Tolstoi pack

I must offer a resounding thank you to my good friend Jon Canfield for my
beautiful Tolstoi pack which I am gazing at this very moment.
I can't scan but if you look at Jon's pictured earlier, you will basically see mine.
It is a real beauty.
best,
barry

Jim,

Thanks for the kind words. I had been searching for 10 years for a Tolstoi for my collection. I've missed one or two over the years on eBay but there are just not that many around. I've only seen 10 or so. There was one on eBay earlier this year and I set a ridiculous snipe for it because I wanted it so bad. Well, someone outsniped me (and paid over $600 for the pack).

About three weeks go, I was excited to finally come across a Tolstoi and there just happened to be 2 of them together. I kept one for my collection and I knew Barry was looking for one as well so offered the second one to him. Unfortunately, those were the only two in the deal.

- Jon
