| What's Your Opinion on:

The 1913 National Game card set & the 1914 Polo Grounds card set? I think they are beautiful with great photos and wonderful backs. National Game cards even include the US Patton date and number! When I started collecting these, I found them an affordable way to collect the greatest Hall-of-Famers at a reasonable price. I always liked the National Games. The 1909 James Jeffries playing card is a nice set in similar vein for boxing collectors. Last edited by drcy; 03-11-2015 at 01:10 AM. |

The series that are on playing type cards have great pictures and are usually more affordable than most others. Another great way to collect on a budget. Big stars still cost some but not relative to most, except strip cards. (scans aren't to size)

Leon - I have that Monte Cross card...it was my first 100-year-old card and I chose him from a group because I felt his appearance best represents that age of baseball.

When I was collecting my HOF collection I used these type, sets for some of the bigger players to make them affordable. Two years ago I sold off almost all of my prewar but did keep 7 of my HOFers including this one which I am now thinking about selling. Drew
