what years do you generally like to see pen versus sharpie on your cards? for me, personally, i like anything in the 50's and 60's and some 70's (such as early 70's cards) signed in pen and sharpie for anything newer. how about you?

I don't want anything signed in Sharpie.

fair enough
im starting to lean that way too. i swear that sharpie fades over time, no matter how you store it.

For me it depends on the card not the year. A lot of the stuff from the 1950's is so dark that I think that the sharpie looks easier to read than a ballpoint pen.

Sharpies don't fade if the signatures aren't kept in the light. I have cards that were signed 30 years ago that look the same today as the day they were signed. I prefer sharpie on anything I'm getting done. I get the nostalgia aspect of using ballpoint on older cards, but I can't see using a ballpoint today when a better pen exists. The only exception I'd make would be if I had an older set where the majority were already in ballpoint, I'd use ballpoint to try to keep as much consistency as possible.

I personally just want a bold signature. Usually that means sharpie, but if I have the choice between equally bold Sharpie and fountain pen signatures, all else being equal I'll go with the fountain pen every time.
