For many years if you ever went to a Padres game and stopped by and had any of Randy Jones' bar-b-que, you probably met Randy. A great personality and a very humble man. He was quick to greet anyone, very likable, and easy to talk with.
I always considered 3 players to be the face of the Padres; Tony Gwynn, Trevor Hoffman (Have you ever been at a game and they played "Hells Bells"?), and Randy Jones. Many other players have passed through, including Dave Winfield, but for me it was those 3 that represented the Padres. Rest in peace Randy! You made an impact while here. |

Randy was a great ambassador for baseball and the San Diego Padres specifically. He always had time for fans at the stadium. Super smart baseball mind. “The Crafty Lefty”.
