Is BVG really that bad?

The general consensus I have read on the net is that BVG is awful for grading. Anyone have any positive experiences?

I am basically planning to get low grade stuff for my collections, and I like the BVG case the best, so it seems to me the difference in grading between a PSA 1-3 and a BVG 1-3 would be nominal. Anyone care to comment?
