| opinion on this declaration of independence signer - Roger Sherman

I know this is primarily a sports related forum but was hoping someone could help me with this autograph from Roger Sherman. He is a founding father who signed the declaration of independence. The top signature is the one I can purchase. It was certified by GAI in Decemeber of 2015 as authentic. I purchased a quick opinion from PSA and the result was "unable to render opinion". Below is the ebay link, seller is valleybaseballcards. http://www.ebay.com/itm/311525522438...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Your thoughts? |

I guess I am most concerned with the "Sh" in Sherman. However, if I look close enough it looks like the "S" has the slant from top loop to bottom and the "h" has a loop at the top, but both are faded.

Ted, He was from New Milford, CT which is the town I traced my ancestors to around the same time he lived in the late 1700s.

I am unfamiliar with the subject, but there are many inconsistencies with the EBay signature. The "LOA" is from a company that often authenticates forgeries, but you should always judge the item not the letter. Assuming the examples you provided are authentic, you should be running away

Any other opinions? Jason, yeah I don't hold the GAI certificate with any weight, if I did purchase I would submit to PSA. |

The one available to you is 20 years before the other exemplars. Not the best way to authenticate. Tom C |
