I wanted to share one of my recent finds. Being able to add this entire rare set to the collection was an unexpected honor. This is probably the first true NBA league set, as the Bowman set was produced prior to the merger of the BAA and the NBL. These days, it would be extraordinary difficult to put this set together completed with the expanding group of vintage basketball collectors.

What a find!!! Incredibly rare and especially in decent shape. Hope you didn’t have to sell your house to get them. Were they already slabbed??

I did pay a fair amount, but still have my home…lol. They were already graded, but you can tell that this was done a long time ago. It was not in mainstream view, and if it had gone to a major auction, I am sure it would have been split among many bidders.

Amazing.
It’s rare to see more than just a couple of the basketball in a single room, let alone a set. Please never let this beaut be broken up!

Huggins & Scott auctioned some of these off back in May. They're definitely cool to look at.
![]() I was watching this one, but it went too high. Groza was probably the second-best player (behind Mikan) and was gonna' have a HOF career, but he got banned for life. Totally unjustified !! |

I have a question about the ones with the 'Bread for Health" missing on the bottom of the label; does anyone know why they were removed? I have seen this on numerous occasions to think it's not a coincidence. I have a 1950 Bread for Health Sammy Baugh and at the time it was the only SGC graded copy. A few years later, another newly graded SGC copy popped up on ebay. It was beautiful but the "Bread for Health'' was missing on the bottom. Somehow it still got a numerical grade. Mine has its bottom banner but missing a small section in the right hand corner, it got an Authentic grade. Im just curious if this is considered part of the label per your standards since the TPG already made their assessment. Thanks
