Red hot looking Corvette.....what year is it ?

As I noted, I am a Classic T-Bird guy.

However, I also appreciate the "Vette". After all, the superior
racing capabilities of the early '50s Corvettes forced Ford to
discontinue their sporty 2-seater T-Birds (because these T-Birds
just couldn't compete at the race tracks with the Vettes).

So, instead the 1955 - 57 Thunderbirds became instant "classics".

Jim, the orchestra is your basic LA freelance orchestra of recording musicians. I was conducting a score for a movie so unmemorable that I've forgoten its name. We are on the Clint Eastwood stage at Warner Bros., Burbank, CA. All of the wonderful Warner Bros. cartoons scores were recorded on this stage, along with countless films and television scores.

Glad to see the Corvettes represented! I can add (not with pics right now) 57 fuelie, 62 fuelie, 71 LT-1 Convertible with 30K miles, 55, and 60. Cards and cars--great combo! I do the restoration work on them myself--gets me away from the desk.

Since we are on the topic of Cars and Motorcycles, I though some of you would like to see this. a lot of members have thier stories about a cool baseball card find. Well, I have a cool car find. I bought this 66 vette from an old lady who drove it 10,000 miles and got a speeding ticket (well, that was the last day she drove this beaut) she put it away after that and to this day it still has 10,000 miles on the odometer.

I'm still looking for a photo of my 1960 T-Bird. If we didn't have 20" snow
outside, I'd take it out of the barn and snap a photo of it. As soon as I

Your story about the old lady getting a ticket recalls my experience when
I first acquired my '57 T-Bird back in 1972 (pre- "American Graffitti" movie
days. I initially didn't realize how much power was under the hood, and I
am driving to work on the Garden State Parkway when I hear a loud voice
behind me on a PA system. I looked in the rear view mirror and I see a NJ
State Trooper. Reflexsively, I look at my speedometer and I am traveling
at 75 mph. I brake to slow down, roll down the window to hear the Trooper.
He is asking me if I want to sell my car. I nod my head to signify....No.
He responds "I don't blame you, waves with a smile, and takes off.

I guess if I was driving my Ford Maverick that day, doing 75, I am sure I
would have received a ticket.

Well funny story was when i was driving my chevelle near toronto and i had a drag race hood on it (6 inch hike on the hood, they are illegal in ontario) and i stopped at a light i thought i was done for when a cop pulls up. i look over and the cop smiles and yells nice ride, whats in it? i reply "more than what u have under that hood" . we both laugh and drive off. i guess because it was a classic chevy i was free lol

My '57 T-Bird has it's original Willow Green color. Only 300 models had this
color in '57 (out of the 27,000 T-Birds built by Ford).
The White hard top I acquired in 1975. Some day I will get it painted Green.

In the '50s, Vettes were Red, but I don't agree that in subsequent years they
were all Red.

The vettes were available in many colors every year they were built (from 1953 on.)

The first 300 Vettes made (in 1953) were all Polo White, with a red interior and a black soft top. Black, Pennant Blue and Sportsman Red were added in 1954, and the black soft top became tan. However, 95% of 1954s were white or blue.

But red became more popular as time went on, and is certainly a very popular restoration color.

My comment was because of the Chevy chief engineer who said "All Corvettes are Red" referring to the heart of a Corvette, no matter the outside color. It later became the title of a book.... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0671685015/104-5512376-6526346?v=glance&n=283155

Very interesting, I learned something new about Vettes.

Since you asked, here is my 1960 T-Bird. It's essentially
the same color as my 1957. Although these pictures aren't
the best due to the poor lighting in my garage.

Also, if you look closely at the rear of the garage, you can
get a glimpse of my '50s "Vintage" BaseBall Pin Ball game.
It's the Super Slugger model by United. It is the one that
has the players run around the bases....3 Home Run decks....
3 different Bat intensities; etc, etc....great machine.

You have to come to Pennsylvania to see me. Have you been to the
Ft Washington Show ? It's just as good as the National.

The large photo represents the true color of this T-Bird. It's really
strange how the front pix came out yellowish. I attribute this effect
to the overhead fluorescent lighting inside the garage. You might call
it "surreal".
