Working on images for the site and noticed that the 1907 Novelty Cutlery Postcards has 14 Hall of Famers out of 26 cards total giving it a 54% HOF,

I have not come accross another set that is even close. Considering with all varians the T206 set has 75 HOF out of 524 cards giving it a 14% HOF rating.

Ok, that's cheating a bit. I'm fairly certain that every card has to have at least 1 HOF player... I could be wrong.

St Louis AL and NY AL don't have HOFers in the T200 set. Puts it at 87.5%

T227. A small set but significant nonetheless. With Baker, Bender, Cobb, and Marquard it's a perfect 4/4.

The 33 Goudey set has a lot of HOFers, but still well below 50%. How about Leon's Fan's Cigarettes Baker 1/1. At least unitl the mysterious Bigbee shows up.

T227 has 4 baseball players and about 46 other cards in it. Not sure what the criteria was for this but this would certainly affect the percentage part of T227....best regards

I haven't done the math, but the 1938 National Game Pin set is loaded with HOFers, including Gehrig, Dimaggio,
Grove, Foxx, Hubbell, etc. That set has always stood out in my mind for having the star power.

I haven't done the math, but the 1938 PM8 National Game Pin set is loaded with HOFers, including Gehrig, Dimaggio, Grove, Foxx, Dean, Ott, Gehringer. That set has always stood out in my mind for having the star power, and how many Pre-War sets have both DiMaggio and Gehrig?

1951 Connie Mack All-Stars (11 cards) = 100 %

Rare 1972 Topps Test Issue (1953) 5 of 8 cards = 63 %

Leon, I'm aware T227 is a larger set but assumed we were just talking about baseball players...N28 was previously mentioned to have 60% HOF of its 10 subjects but is technically a 50 card set. By the way, T227 is a 25 card set, not 50.

1950 R423 has 50 HOFers of its 120 cards, mixed between current and retired.
I think that's the highest for a set of over 100 cards.

Actually N28, T227, and W511 have very low % of HOFers, because the sets were mostly non baseball.

You cant really count many of the strip cards because they had nonsports mixed in. (ie W512, W513, W551, etc.)


Set with over 50 cards.... W517 has 65% HOFers.

W553 has 87% HOFers
W554 has 76% HOFers and O'Doul

Hey there, Frank,

Your post prompted me to did down through my junk to my one W554, Lefty Grove. I look him up in the Standard Catalog, and they have a $25 VG price... On eBay I see only 2 W554s, both with Buy It Now. I hardly ever see them for sale. Are these underpriced in the catalog? Does anyone else out there collect them?

I collect Jimmie Foxx things. cards and all. My goal is to get all known cards and variations. I'm about half way there. And all else associated with him. Anyway......I track virtually all auctions and E bay on a weekly basis for Foxxs. The reason I say this, I have two 574's. One PSA and one SGC graded. I don't miss much. And I usually don't except anything unless it is decent shape. Sometimes we have to take what we can get. Now to the point. The two I own, are I believe the only two I have seen in the last ten years. There was a thread the other day about the rarity of early 30's cards. This certainly proves that point. They are very rare. Some may say they aren't but trust me, they are. Undervalued? Under appreciated? Time will tell.
