I said it (and have said it before)!

I am not going by value -
I am going by overall card craftsmanship -
and here is my vote for the greatest baseball card ever created.


The Cracker Jack Walter Johnson.


The card shape, the background color, the player, the pose, the cracker jack brand, the absolutely awesome write-up about Big Train on the back of the card...

This card is unmatched!


So - I proclaim this card:
The greatest card crafted in the history of card crafting.

I'm not sure what I'd call the greatest, but I do really like that one. It's one of the handful of cards that I'm considering for my next big hobby purchase.

I realize my example has much better than average colors, but it's hard to beat this card for overall appeal. The t205 Joss would probably be my next choice.

I suppose the card is too run of the mill for you guys, but I nominate '34 Goudey Gehrigs. That boyish good looks beaming at you, that's a beautifully crafted card. Isn't that what it's all about some kid running on a baseball diamond.
