I see the SGC board is as butt-kissy as the CU board to their prospective grading company a**es.

Don't those board users realize who those three are?

This isn't good for the SGC name. I'm sure the CU users are snickering about this.

Dave did run Teletrade for a short time. Now that Manning has Superior I would think that they would have little use for Teletrade as an outlet.

I'm wondering how a new owner (and this one in particular) is going to improve SGC. They operate in stealth mode most of the time, but even if they took GAI's approach to self-promotion, what difference would it make? Since I'm just an occasional submitter, what's in it for me? Those aren't rhetorical questions - I'm curious. The thing I'd most like to see is better turnaround times, but that's a small problem that's not likely to change with a new owner.

It's been my understanding that Foreman worked for Teletrade and they are out of business but only after their reputation was trashed in large part due to offering - what a coinscidence - PRO graded cards. Gary Moser was(is) a great source for PRO cards - lots of PRO cards.

Hmmmm.

SGC needed someone who would have promoted the company like it deserved to be. A new owner would have improved SGC but not this one. If Foreman and/or Moser are running the chicken coop can Broadway Rick be far behind looking for plastic tombs for his eggs?

When I was told about SGC events I thought it was just rumor that wouldn't unfold. I was also told a couple other tidbits. If those hold true look for Bill Goodwin who was a PSA dealer from practiucally day one to be offering more SGC cards and that somewhere out there is a check made out to SGC with David Hall's name on it.

Can anyone confirm or deny?

First, the disclaimer: I plan to continue sending my cards to SGC. Also, I apologize to those who I promised I would never post here again. As you know, I have never been able to keep that promise.

Okay, having said that - why is Foreman a good thing for SGC? Gary Moser is despicable and obviously Foreman saw something in him, maintaining a friendship and some sort of business relationship for a period of time. SGC proponents would have us believe that back then Moser was honest, but then put on his Darth Vader suit (often taking his light saber to young Mickey Mantle).

I won't touch the "high-end PSA card" aspect of Foreman's previous life, since that in itself doesn't bother me - plenty of high-end PSA cards are legit. It's not the submitters that concern me, rather the folks at PSA that can't seem to spot the knife-work.

BTW, Greg sent me a good scan of the e95 Cobb - amazingly professional work, but there were some obvious clues that were missed. Still, provided that a black light wouldn't pick up glue and re-coloring, I can write that one off to human error.

very few people on this board probably know dave foreman. he is a long time hobby dealer and quite knowledgable, despite whatever X-files people conjure up. let him revamp and run SGC for a while and see what happens, lets judge him AFTER and not before.

I bought 2 groups of 10 Ramlys from Dave in 1995 @ the National. I had arranged to pick up a Boston Garter from him @ the show and he asked if there was anything else that I was looking for and I told him that I was starting to put a Ramly set together. He said that he had some high grade raw Ramly commons and he would bring them to the show. I bought both groups for $4000. Two years later when I had them graded they came back 1-9, 10-8's & 9-7's (Scott 2 TTT's). I was always pleased with what I got from Dave and it was all ungraded. Let's see how he does, based on all the chatter about grading he will have his hands full.

I think that SGC is in terrific hands now with the new changes. I have dealt with Dave Forman for many years and have bought both graded and ungraded product from him. He is a true professional and a great asset to the hobby. He has personally helped me to assemble a remarkable collection of pre war cards over the years. I would give the changes some time to take effect at SGC and you will be impressed I am certain.

Hello Everyone,

I am pleased to make my first post here a positive one and a strong endorsement of Dave Forman. I have known Dave for 12 years. When he was 17-18 years old he came in to my office and sold me some prewar psa 8s, 9s and 10s.
Yes he did do an auction with Gary and Gerry about 10 years ago. To my knowledge, he has not had any business dealings with them in the last several years.
I consider Dave to be a person of strong character, high integrity and very knowledgeable about vintage sportscards. I also believe he will be instrumental in lifting SGC's profile among large vintage sportscard dealers.
I think it likely that both GAI and SGC will make inroads into the psa franchise in the months and years ahead.

Favor of Mr. Foreman based solely on my experiences over the past several years mostly with T-cards (202s and 205s, primarily). He's always been professional, informed and honest.... Hopefully he can help out SGC.

Interesting that Mr. Forman was the seller (make that happy seller) in a recent auction that shows the wild-ass demand for PSA 8 low population commons.

Comment #2: I think every owner of a grading company should divest themselves of all their graded cards. Even the perception of a conflict of interest is enough to raise doubts in some collectors, not to mention the very real possibility of misconduct.

I was just up at the SGC office this morning and it was business as usual. Same superior customer service from Michael Goldberg and the grading team was able to answer my questions in a timely manner. That's all I am concerned about.

SGC cards have been the focal point of my collection for about 6 months, and they will continue to be so. I have no problem with PSA, I just like SGC and the holders better. I have met Forman and Skeffington on a few occasions, and I trust them. Some of my hobby buddies swear by them, and I trust them too.
