Thanks Billy for the kind words---You are a Gem of a person----I still miss doing your Burlington shows----the N173's should be interesting---everyone knows about them, so if there are a few collectors that really want them for their collection, bidding could get out of hand.----I will be there and hopefully maybe win a card or two.---thanks again and everyone in the hobby world knows what a wonderful person you are.----Enjoy your great family and have a beautiful day., your friend, Don

Saco River Auctions did a GREAT job marketing these old judge cabinets. The Kelly went for $62,000 plus the vig. The Clarkson went for $7000 and the Brouthers for $6,500. Even the non-HOFers averaged over $3,000 each. Looks like the market is very strong. It will be interesting to see how the Legendary Auction goes tonight.

I was at the auction---I did get the Pop Smith SGC 60--Paid $3190 with the juice---King Kelly went crazy around $70K with the vig---Clarkson and Brothers also high---8-10 phone bidders from around the country---I was happy to walk away with 1---the condition on all the cards was outstanding. Barry,

I was reading through some old publications last night and re-read your "Candid Look At The Hobby" in Vol 1 of the VCBC. You could almost redate that article and publish today without any changes. I guess 17 years is just a drop in the bucket of vintage card collecting.

. i agree that the auction house did a good job of marketing the cards, especially considering they had no previous experience selling cards of that type. the auction house manager was a class act. he relayed a story to me about the consignor of those cabinets. the consignor was a vietnam vet who had exposure to agent orange, and has had subsequent medical issues as a result. in addition, his wife has cancer and has had bills run up during her hospitalization. this is truly one of those stories where everyone wins.

thanks Craig. i was a phone bidder -- the distance to the auction house made it an impractical trip. i would have liked to have seen the King Kelly in person, what an amazing piece.

Congrats on the Clarkson Cabinet---I was the underbidder at the auction on your card---the phone bidders were tough to outbid---I did win the Pop Jones---I would have loved the Clarkson---but just couldnt keep up with you---good luck with the card---it was a great auction and yes Saco River did a wonderful job with the cards and getting the word out---needless to say Net 54 was a big help to them.----Don
