| E78 Steal?! (Grades in with scans!)

Hi all, Picked these up today and was more than happy to only pay $100 for all six especially with the above average condition. I know the prices have really dropped on these over the last couple years but I think I should still do well. Sending these off to SGC tomorrow and can post grades once I receive them if anyone is interested. Owen Moran SGC 70 POP 1, 2 higher Berger/Jeffries SGC 55 POP 1, 0 higher!! Packey McFarland SGC 84 POP 1, 0 higher, next closest is 50!! Batt. Nelson SGC 45 (upside down E8 back) POP1, 2 higher Joe Gans SGC 70 POP 1, 1 higher Stanley Ketchel SGC 82 POP 1, 1 higher Ed, email sent. Thanks for looking Tony Last edited by TonyH; 10-12-2012 at 09:24 AM. |

Even if they come back trimmed [which some of them look to be] you certainly will not lose money. Please post the grades once they're in.

Ed, These will be available once back from SGC and I will send you an email. Exhibitman, I didn't even think about them being trimmed. Heck, I didn't notice the size difference with the Berger v Jeffries until I looked at the obvious picture I posted. lol It must have been the excitement of being the only person that knew what these were that made me overlook the basics. |

Don't worry about the basics; you got a deal. I bought a similar group of 6 three years ago at near the bottom of the market in a competitive auction for about $35 each including shipping. None were trimmed but all were creased. A couple of significant HOFers in there but some 'commons' too. So even if you got a few "A" grades there I think you got a definite steal. The Gans is a card I've long liked the look of; think I might have owned one once, but I don't recall right now. Might be interested in that one...

Just got the email from USPS that SGC has shipping the cards. Checked the pop report and it is +6 and appears all received a grade, no "A". From what I remember about the pop report I believe I got Packey McFarland 84 pop 1, highest grade, next closest is 50. Stanley Ketchell 82 pop 1 2nd highest and I really hope the Berger/Jeffries got 55, that would be the highest. Anyways, I'll update when in hand on Friday. Tony |
