A tremendous fan favorite during his 7 years with Cincinnati (1906-12), John "Larry" McLean stood 6' 5". McLean is the tallest Catcher ever in Major League Baseball (MLB).

After a couple of good years with the New York Giants, McLean's MLB career came to a sudden end in the Spring of 1915 when he picked a fight with John McGraw and the Giants' scout Dick Kinsella. Six years later in a Boston speakeasy, McLean was shot by the bartender and died at age 39. OK, guys show us your "jolly McLean giant" cards, photos, memorabilia, etc. I'll start this show with some of my cards...... ![]() ![]() ![]() . ![]() ..![]() TED Z |

The McLean is one of my favorite cards in the E98 set! I love the darkness of his jersey top.

Nice card Jimi! Glad to see others who appreciate E98s, especially the lower condition ones like I do! Best of luck with your building of your set. Tim Kindler |

Thanks, Tim! What are you building with your e98s? Just a McLean e98 all backs, or a master e98 set?

It looks like your McLean is an E90-1 card. If so, it's one of McLean's toughest cards to find (in any condition). Thanks, TED Z |

			Patrick.....nice looking T206 McLean.

The Larry McLean card was short-printed in terms of the usual complement of 350-Only series backs. There are only seven T-brands the McLean card was printed with...... It was found with a few other freaks in that box in nyc at a comic store called "little NEMO's".... I wish it was Leon's card , but i'll take this sweet piece of scrap!!(not crap )......missing a color pass or 2 and obviously hand cut from a sheet |

Bob, The unfortunate thing is there seems to be no cure...... at least it feels like we will never get to the end of our goals; you on E94s and me on E98s. Oh well, it's the hunt that is exciting....at least that is what I keep telling myself.
