| 1910 Nap Lajoie Supplement

A couple of months ago, there was a local "paper" show. I went as usual hoping to purchase some cards to add to the collection. There typically isn't a huge selection of pre-war cards, but in the past I have purchased S74s, T205s and T206s, cigarette boxes and even an N43. At the last show I was getting a little discouraged as I couldn't really find anything to add to the collection. In an attempt to avoid making any regrettable purchases, I decided to just high-tail it out of there. Before I left, I went back to a table which had the only item that had sparked any interest in me. I don't collect a lot of supplements, but felt this was a good addition. Had never seen this particular supplement before and after some research was unable to find another. Feel free to post any supplements in your collection. I feel there are some decent bargains with supplements and think they display nicely. Here's the supplement I purchased. 1910 This Week In Cleveland Nap Lajoie Supplement... |

Honestly I don't know why supplements aren't more popular. I guess it's just because they are not "cards". But they are affordable great to display, I have a Man Cave that's mostly decorated with framed M101-2's. I'll have to post some pics on this forum sometime.

Dave, Was watching the M101-2 Mordecai Brown in PWCC's recent eBay auctions, but went higher than I thought it would, so will have to wait for the next one to come around. Jason, Thanks for the kind words. |

Docpatlv, could you please explain to us newbies what a supplement is? I'm assuming it is a vintage artifact that is not considered a baseball card, but I want to make sure I get the nomenclature right. And what a beautiful Lajoie. Congratulations on the pick up!

Bill, Thanks, I've always thought of supplements as something that is given away free with another of the manufacturer's products. The example I posted was probably given away with a newspaper. In other instances, maybe redemptions were made to obtain supplements or they could simply be purchased. I usually think of supplements as oversized paper items, posters, photos, etc. Mike |
