I really love your art. I have been wanting to try my hand at something like this since seeing yours. I know I just don't have the patience (nor the artistic talent) to do it justice. I just think it would be a fun use of a bunch of cards that will have no future value and I think my children would love doing this with me.

I saw a link to an article the other day talking about things to do with worthless 80's-present cards and tim was mentioned...and I must say your work has dramatically improved since your earliest of works! The ryan is AWESOME!!!!!!

I've been fortunate enough to be put in situations where my work has been given to former players, commissioned by former players, and through my work with Upper Deck, has been signed by some of the big guys in the modern sports world (Gretzky, Lebron, Griffey). Here are a few of my encounters...

Andre Dawson stopped at the UD booth during the Fall Expo in Toronto. We talked for a couple days, and then afterwards by phone and email. He commissioned this one:

This is a great idea with some cool results. Have you ever used a single card to make that same card? For example, using a pile of the "regular" Fleer Ripkens (none of the rare variations) to make a large version of the FF card?

Thanks! I haven't used a single card to make that same card yet. I've been approached about it before (1988 Donruss Diamond Kings Andre Dawson), but I passed because it would be too tedious and time consuming to cut the small sections of red, etc. to replicate that on a larger level. I'd rather cut jerseys off of Cardinals and Reds players to make those red swatches (same for the other colors). Hope that makes sense!

I'm currently working on a commission of something similar! Without going into many details (it is a gift from a family member and I am unsure if the recipient is on this board).....I can tell you it is a common card from the 1987 Topps set. The goal is to complete it by only using 87 Topps.

This set is also a favorite for me, as it was the first pack of cards I ever bought. I also love using the set in my work now due to the amount of portraits, grass, sky,red/blue/white jerseys......it has most of what I need for my art. The stock is also thin, making the scissor work easier on the wrists!

Is is okay to ask what the general cost of one of these pieces would be? Say a "somewhere between $50 and $50 million", but maybe narrowed down a bit more? ha ha
