| Jimmie Foxx.. your favorite?

Am looking for ideas and suggestions on which Jimmie Foxx to add to my HOF collection - I look to have one card for every Hall of Famer and I’ve been debating which Foxx would be “the one“ for my collection. My budget is around $500 and I am fine with lower to mid grade cards as long as they are decently centered. Probably like most collectors. Would love to hear which Foxx you like best - thx for suggestions! Jeff |

I also have a HOF collection and here is the Foxx that I have for mine. I love the Kashin image as it was used for the 1933 Goudey card years later.

I'll go with the vanilla, standard answer - the 1933 Goudey "rookie." Either number will do. I say, "rookie" because there is a debate. However, I personally prefer the 1934 Goudey over the 1933. I like its design and colors more. Foxx is another underrated player - playing in the Babe and Lou's era overshadow his greatest. Good luck. |

I have the Delong Foxx. I'm not sure how much a lower grade one is selling for these days, but it may fit in your budget.

Love Foxx. There is a nice Batter Up Hi Number Foxx on ebay now, under $2.k, been tempted myself. Valuewise seems undervalued - but then that card does not sell at that price.

The postcard back exhibit rookie card would have fit the bill very nicely for you around the time that I stopped collecting the HOF rookie cards, around 2014. A nice mid-grade example could be had for around $500. Now, you can multiply that by ten, thus taking it out of range for most of us these days. Maybe Leon could move this thread to the pre-war side where it belongs too. Last edited by bcbgcbrcb; 02-17-2021 at 06:28 PM. |

For $500, you should be able to get a few options, unless you just want 1 nice example. I bought this Wheaties at auction for $50 18 months ago. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Get the W560 if you can. It is one of the three considered a potential RC and it is way cheaper than the Exhibit. Or the Salutations Exhibit.

I would get either the 1933 Goudey or 1941 Play Ball. Those are his two nicest looking cards in my opinion.

I love the Dixie Lid Premiums. I think they are beautiful and under valued. You can get a nice Foxx for under $150. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1938-Dixie-...-/264936956268

I love the 1933 Goudey Foxx. Here's my example and I think it looks great for the grade. I also agree the 1941 is a nice example. .

Thanks for all of the great suggestions, all. I think I’ve decided to try and chase down a 34 Goudey - tough call but love the coloring plus I get a bonus of 2 HOFers on the front, in a way 😉 If anyone knows of anyone ready to move their 34 Foxxy, please let me know - thanks again all Jeff |
