I recently acquired an old forget-me-not/scrapbook that had a Charles Comiskey Scrapps card glued in. I was able to fairly easily remove it. The color is nicer than this image shows, but it does have some creasing. No holes or significant paper loss on the front, though. The back has a little paper loss from the glue.
I’m just starting to learn about this set after picking this up, and I do plan to sell the card. My question is, should I definitely get it graded before selling? I expect it to grade somewhere between SGC authentic and 1.5. I know there are many collectors who enjoy collecting raw only. So, given the lower grade likelihood, is it worth it? Ideas on a reasonable asking price are welcome also. I haven’t found any recent sales of this particular card. [/PHP] |

With paper loss on the back it will most likely grade as a SGC Auth
And Value is just shy of $400 So yes it would make sense to have graded |

Not necessarily, per my experience.

Grading to me when you plan on selling something for the same price it would be for the lowest possible grade/Auth has always seemed like just crumpling up a $50 bill and free throwing it into the trash can.
I personally think you'd have no problem getting $500 maybe even a bit more selling it raw.

SGC will give cards with a small, but still noticeable amount of paper loss up to a 2. I have a few in my collection in older and newer slabs.
