Mickey Mantle Autograph Baseball

I certainly did not like it but it was in a lot of autograph baseballs in a recent major auction with a JSA Auction LOA. There were two Mantle balls in the lot and one was dead on but this one really looked off to me with the "M"s particularly bothering.

Hoping for more opinions as currently the score is 1-1 if I exclude mine.

I expected more responses but it has been up for a few days now.

Hopefully other Mantle experts will chime in.

Auction LOAs aren't the best in general. There's no telling if any piece in a group lot was inadvertently (or otherwise) placed in the grouping after the TPA examined it. Also, they may have in fact examined a questionable item, and the auction house failed to remove it from the grouping even after the TPA informed them of their findings. No accusations pointed at anyone involved in any auction LOA mishap. There are simply a lot of variables that can go awry, and certainly have more than a time or two.

The Ms just look flat to me , no bounce. Mantle is much smaller in size that it usually is on a ball compared to Mickey

100% agree! Auction LOA do not mean much IMO.

These aren't on balls but have the same characteristics, IMHO

Too many other good copies out there to buy this. It has 0 of 10 things I like when I used to buy mantle balls. #1 is a terrible blurry pic.

I agree that those Marino examples match this one pretty well.

Yes, the picture is fuzzy as it is a picture of a picture but the strokes are still pretty clear and it just does not look even close to a legit Mantle IMO.
