FS: 1964-65 2nd Series Topps Tall Boy Hockey - CLOSED

  85 Frank Mahovlich - $175   89 Gordie Howe - $600   These cards were not popular with most kids in the fall of 1964. First of all they did not fit neatly into your pocket the way standard sized cards did. Moreover I seem to remember that O-Pee-Chee raised the price of at least the 1st series in my neck of the woods from five cents for a pack of four cards to ten cents for a pack of six cards! As a result, they're much more difficult to find in nice shape than other Hockey cards from the mid-1960's and the 2nd series is particularly tough since kids weren't even buying them on a trial basis by the time the 2nd series was released. And certain cards were short printed on the sheet adding yet another measure of toughness these days. Prices include tracked shipping to addresses within North America. More tomorrow!

  I didn't even notice the band of white along the left side of the card which appears to be a printing defect until I scanned the Chico Maki card. It jumps right out in the scan but it's barely visible in person. 82 Ted Lindsay - $250   86 Andy Bathgate - $225

New tariffs as of August 31st on packages being sent from Canada to the States have created shipping problems that I absolutely did not anticipate. Canada Post requires that I make online payments with a third party first(!) and is therefore not even a tenable option right now. I now need to look into (and price) other options e.g. FedEx, UPS, Purolator, DHL, etc.
