Default Let’s See Some REA pickups from the 9/21 Auction

The 9/21 Auction had a lot of great items. I was able to snag a few and even though my newly acquired 1914 Eddie Plank is far from perfect, it has great color, and besides, most of his image is there! ( besides, what do I know, I bought the Merkle from Bobby and will never sell that card…too much net54 history on that one.
LET’s SEE YOURS!

Plank: "Evidence of trimming". It doesn't get a "By insects" sub-qualifier?

I Agree….they really need to expand their classifications to “insects and rat” knawing!

That is amazing……I love his Cracker Jack card , so much so I made a T shirt out of it with the back displaying the photo they used for the card.
His biography is quite interesting.

Same for me - that auction had many on my T206 wish list, and fortunately managed to snag quite a few. Brought me up to 500 total!

Was this one of their three catalogue auctions per year or one of the monthly ones?

It was their monthly, but it really seemed bigger, lots of great offerings. They have a monthly October, then the big Fall auction starts Nov 21….see below.

Tom, congrats on reaching 516! The WaJo has great eya appeal for the grade!

Nothing big for me in REA, but I've never had one of these in my type collection:

I have an example of the Overland Candy wrapper set, but of course the bottom half, including the crossed bats and everything below, has been sliced away. Anyone have a spare bottom half lying around?

Here is the Old Cardboard listing for the 'cards':

The link didn't work for me, Brian. You have the set but with the bottoms cut off. Does that make Val's as rare as it sounds?

I only have a single cut in half card, cut presumably by a collector back in the 1930's. I would say that these are about equally available in cut and full-size as issued. I would not call them extremely rare...just garden variety rare. Here is that link again (just in case it does not work, it is the R301 listing on the Old Cardboard site).
