Ryan--I agree that tickets are a great collectible. They are one of the few pieces of memorabilia that were actually at the venue when the event took place(whole tickets, at least for early events, were probably not). However, as an investment they also have negatives. First, they are generally not attractive. Second, and to me most significantly, for events that were known to be significant at the time(Jackie Robinson's first game, a World Series or All Star game, etc) there is no telling how many tickets are still to be found is private collections and scrapbooks. If the value of tickets gets to the point where there is a general public awareness then there will probably be plenty of "finds". For example, almost 27,000 people attended Jackie Robinson's first game. People knew it was a significant event in baseball history and a non-trivial number probably saved their program and or ticket stub.
NTW, I still casually collect tickets, but I will not spend any real money on them. I have tickets to Breanna Stewart's first WNBA game, but only because I was at the game and saved mine and my wife's.

Default Tickets

I only have a few tickets that I enjoy- I wish I had all the ones from my childhood, but they are long gone.

The 1974 Aaron Game my dad was at and saved the ticket- I met him years later

The 1984 All Star Game I was at myself

1949 game my Aunt was at - double header in Brooklyn

Enjoy the thread

Cris

I love the idea of pairing tickets with other items like photos, art or in this case bats.

Cris, great tickets!

I had a signed copy example of the 84 AS game ticket, sold it recently. Looks like the ticket was able to be ripped from the top or the bottom...and Doc was the youngest All Star ever...

Being mainly a card guy, I only have a couple, all full tickets; Connie Mack Day with a great picture of Connie, Paul Molitor's 3000 hits game, and Mike Schmitt's 300 HR game.

As shown previously, I picked up this ticket to go with the picture of my Great Uncle Sam with Mickey Mantle and his friend Dizzy Trout. (wearing glasses)
Sadly, everyone is gone now to confirm what actual game this pic was taken at, but I thought having a ticket whether it's the right game or not was better than not having a ticket at all. (Yes, my elderly Aunt Eileen at the time wrote Mick's last name wrong)

Nice...if you don't already have it, a program from the World Series would be a great addition (looks like everyone is holding one in the photo).

The website baseball reference is a great tool if you haven't used it.

The player page has the individual debut date.
The season page has a link to a list of debuts for that season.

It isn't quite as easy as enter a date but it is pretty good.

While I don't purchase tickets as a hobby, I've typically kept most tickets from events I have attended. Samples are placed on my bar top, under glass.

Apologies for the upside down images, as they are correct on my device.

Great idea, and I flipped the images because it might be fun for all to check out all the cool events you have been to...with less neck craning.
