Hi all, I have this t206 Spade. I've always thought it might be a printer's scrap because of the weird borders and cuts. Any experts here that can help me clear this up?

Normally a printer's scrap would have some other qualifying aspect, like blank-backed, bad registration, multiple backs or fronts printed on top of each other and possibly in other directions, and those with color passes missing. Yours seems to be a standard card to me, just in awful shape.

Unless you're trying to sell it on the BST back in the day.

I miss all the T206 print error threads.

The level of unintentional comedy in so many of those threads, especially on the BST, was off the charts.

How things are defined is always uncertain.
I think it's a standard card that's been handcut from a sheet or portion of a sheet. Similar to this one |

It looks like a printer's scrap to me. Broadly defined, a printer's scrap is anything that was cut up and not put into a pack (excluding things like proofs). This looks like that. Some scraps have errors, missing colors, etc, but not all of them. Maybe there was an ink spill or misprint on another part of the sheet and Mr Spade came out looking ok.

I would consider that scrap too. It’s not factory cut and likely from a dumpster sheet.

Thanks for the help, everyone! It's not going to be for sale. I was looking for some other opinions. I'm about 75% sure it's a scrap or a hand cut card. This thread was helpful and I learned some stuff.

I think it is likely a scrap card. I have this one of Magee that others on here identified back in the day as a scrap card. Besides the irregular shape, it is also missing the scroll overprint and Factory 42 line.
