The double knob is a great bat. I wish I won it, but besides the Halper example, it the first one that I know of that sold for over 3,000 publicly. It proves that the early bats are still going strong which is good to see.

Matt, I agree completely. I just watched two Spalding bats go higher than I've ever seen. A Keeler Gold Medal sold over $1100 and a Evers Gold Medal went for over $600. I've noticed that quality early bats are getting fewer and far between.

Nice shoot'n on the ring bat Brock...36" is a good size. Any maker? how about a close up of the ring and barrel end? It appears to have the classic (and all important to me) squared barrel end

No maker on the ring bat Carlton. I'll post some more pics shortly. Camera battery is currently dead. But the bat does have the squared off, flat top like you mentioned. Bat has several nice 19th century characteristics; long and heavy, center rings, flat top, and a miniscule little knob.

Sweet ring bat Brock!

Here are a couple of my recent pickups.
First is a 1895 McLoughlin Bros The Yale and Princeton FootBall Board Game. I lost out in one of these in an estate auction a few years ago, and was very happy to pickup this one up.




Next I picked up another pennant quilt and this time I decided to start taking this one apart. The quilt has some nice circa 1910 college pennatns in it, but the quilt itself was pretty unappealling with pennants jutting out here and there, so I didn't feel bad taking it apart.
I have taken off 5 or 6 pennants so far and they are coming off very well.

Wow, great game....I think it may even be an early version of that particular game. I'll have to wait till I get home to study mine...The Yale Princeton is the best/most deluxe version of the Mcloughlin football games...coincidently, because of a particular Mcloughlin football game at the National, I elaborated on them in my story...Since you picked this up you may be interested in the examination...which you'll be able to read soon. Hey nice pennants too, nice going!

Ooops Carlton, I logged in but I guess I forgot to fill in the name slot. Thanks for the info, I can't wait to read the writeup. That is great that it may be an early version. I know Hunts had one 2 years ago that had the same graphics, however in a slightly different orientation, with the little boy in the right corner, and the pennants in the upper left and right corner.

Dan, I hadn't had a chance to research Cotner yet, so thanks alot for the help. I picked up the quilt on ebay, as to where it originated from prior to that, I'm not sure

Keith the NWU Pennant is Nebraska Wesleyan...which is also located in Lincoln..and I'm guessing by this point the Red swatch with the N on it is from the U of Nebraska. Heck the only Lincoln school your missing there is Union College.

Thanks guys. Nobody knows for sure how many styles and variations exist, but the Tigers seem to have been toward the top of the list when you consider design, quality, and variety. I love the fact that they dated so many pennants and incorporated unique design features to many. I only have 13 Tigers pennants, but I only collect thier pre 1950 pieces.

Nice pics Clint..is the Babe Adams a first generation photo?

I picked up two more Stock certs of the 1953 Lincoln Chiefs. Of all places I got them off a want ad I placed on Craigslist. After searching nearly a decade for just one stock certificate I've picked up 4 in just the last two months. Funny how that works.

Dan, yeah it's first generation although the back is stamped 1920. I'm sure the picture was taken a few years earlier though. David if I'm wrong correct me here. Here's what the back looks like.
